						<description><![CDATA[ACSA Underwater GPS is introducing a new approach to Search and Recovery operations called the "Flying Team Concept".<br><br>Each time an accident occurs at sea, numerous means are mobilized on site to bring assistance to survivors and recover surface floating debris. A difficulty remains: how to relocate in 3D the black boxes or VDR pingers with an accuracy good enough to allow fast recovery operations with the adequate tools.<br>In order to relocate the pingers, ACSA has developed a package, having a weight of less than 100 kg, that can be operated by a 2 men team flown to any accident site using commercial flights.<br><br>Once on site, a craft of opportunity is hired locally. ACSA equipment is installed on board in less than ½ hour. By deploying GIBTM buoys on the search area, pingers are positioned in longitude and latitude with a metric accuracy. Next step is to measured depth using a portable echo-sounder so that proper ROV can be specified to the next mission: recorders recovery for data analysis and investigations.<br><br>Demonstrations at sea of this "Flying Team" package, which has been demonstrated to be very efficient in numerous complex crisis, are organized every month at ACSA's test site near Toulon.]]></description>

Moreover, this effect is improved by painting the edges with special resin.<br><br>Resin coating of plywood is an alternative to film-facing by a melamine or phenol impregnated paper, specially when the panel's size is out of standard. Resin coated plywood id available with mat or transparent surfaces, presenting one side smooth and one antislipping as finishing, or both sides smooth. Other finishing can also be made upon request (for instance, resin coating on one side only or overlaying with film). <br><br>Wood species and composition<br>This plywood consists entirely of Okoume' or Beech veneers. Other species are available upon request. The inner layers can be produced with Poplar or/and Conifereous crossgrained veneers. <br><br>Dimensions<br>The sizes shown below are the standard dimensions most commonly produced:<br>250/310 x 122/153/183 cm et 250 x 170 cm<br>while thickness ranges from 3 to 40 mm. Beech resin coated plywood is produced with the dimensions 250 x 125 cm in thickness ranging from 6 to 20 mm. <br><br>Use<br>Okoume' resin coated plywood offers significant lightweight properties and a good water resistance, so it is particularly appropriate for floors, roofs, shuttering applications, etc., in conditions of exposure to moisture environment.<br>Beech resin coated plywood provides instead the some protection with greater mechanical properties, being characterized by an excellent weight-performance ratio.]]></description>

						<description><![CDATA[De-Icing and Anti-Icing<br><br>In cold climate waters, the formation of ice on ships and offshore platforms can create serious problems impacting the safety of personnel and the economies of operation. Icing can be caused by sea spray and/or atmospheric water (snow, rain and fog). The quipment and areas requiring measures against ice formation have been divided into two categories by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), as follows:<br><br>Category I: equipment or areas necessary for navigation, steering, propulsion, anchoring and lifesaving.<br><br>Category II: equipment or areas comprising decks and superstructures, helicopter decks, railings and cargo deck area.<br><br>Anti-icing is defined as the prevention of ice formation, and according to DNV is required for Category I equipment or areas. For these applications, anti-icing arrangements are required with sufficient capacity to keep the equipment or areas free from ice at all times in the service areas under moderate conditions.<br><br>Deicing is defined as the melting of ice already formed, and according to DNV is required for Category II equipment or areas. For these applications, deicing arrangements are required with sufficient capacity for removal of accumulated ice within a reasonable period of time (normally 4 to 6 hours) under moderate conditions.<br><br>Heat Load<br>DNV recommends power capacity for anti-icing and deicing be not less than:<br><br><br>300 W/m2 for open deck areas, helicopter decks, gangways, stairways<br>200 W/m2 for superstructures<br>50 W/m for railings with inside heating<br><br>These are minimum power capacity requirements. Lower ambient temperatures and higher wind speeds will increase the heat loss and more power may be needed.]]></description>

It is designed by Ian Bruce, better known as the father of the Laser, the man who gave the world its first out-of-the-box performance dinghy.<br><br>30 years later and building on that experience, Ian was able, with the BYTE, to answer to the requests of a market that has been looking, for many years, for a boat ideal for sailors of middle to light weight. The BYTE is a highly technical boat yet one which is easily handled by both the up and coming or the experienced lighter weight sailor. It was designed for the weight of the sailor and not for any age or gender. It is the ideal boat for sailors from 40 to 75 kg.<br><br>The dimensions of the hull and the small sail area, (BYTE is 3,6m. LOA, weights only 45 kg with a 5.4 sq. m. radial cut main), together with the lines of the hull, make it simple but very efficient, and especially fast downwind. The full underwater sections of the bow reduce the risk of nose-diving.<br><br>IDEAL FOR LESURE TIME<br><br>The BYTE is very light, and can be transported on the top of any car. The aluminium mast is in two pieces and very easy to assemble. The boat can be rigged in minutes.<br><br>The mainsail is raised and lowered with an external halyard and is attached to the mast with a simple zippered luff tube. This means that the sail can be lowered while sailing and, on shore, it can be removed and the boat left with the mast up and all the lines rigged. Thanks to this clever and simple detail, safety while sailing is greatly increased and the time for preparation of the boat before and after sailing substantially reduced.<br><br>FOR THE LOVERS OF RACE AND COMPETITION<br><br>BYTE has got all the characteristics typical of the more technical racing dinghies. 						<description><![CDATA[Centraltecnica, la société qu'il a fondé il y a 30 ans, s'occupe de l'installation et de l'entretien des portes automatiques sur les bateaux et les yachts. Le siège est à Trieste, où travaille Davide, le fils, et il y a une filiale à Miami, aux États-Unis. <br><br>Le nombre varie en fonction du bateau. Il peut y avoir de 12 à 62 portes automatiques, comme dans le cas du Queen Victoria. <br><br>Dans notre travail, nous devons distinguer deux phases bien précises. Le montage final et la conception de l'accès automatique. <br>Commençons, paradoxalement, par le montage final. <br>Passé la première période pionnière, une première ère a commencé où l'on rencontrait préalablement les décorateurs aménageurs du bateau et on programmait les travaux. On convenait de la manière de procéder ensemble sur les ponts. <br>Aujourd'hui le travail d'assemblage est beaucoup plus frénétique et, dans un certain sens, il a même empiré. <br>Les temps de travail et d'intervention sont dictés par des règles strictes. Il y a plusieurs entreprises impliquées qui opèrent souvent sans communiquer ou sans se coordonner entre elles.  <br>Il nous arrive d'étendre les câbles et de les trouver coupés, après quelques jours, car ils ont dû faire de la place pour le montage de cloisons et de composants. <br>Heureusement, nous avons une très grande expérience et nous parvenons ainsi à minimiser les manques d'efficacité en nous coordonnant de manière autonome avec les autres entreprises impliquées. <br>Mais l'accès automatique a également changé - physiquement. <br>Avant il y avait l'automatisme que nous devions appliquer au châssis existant. <br>Aujourd'hui nous fournissons, en revanche, tout l'accès automatique, châssis inclus, qu'il soit en bois ou en acier, selon une série de critères techniques, architecturaux et de conception que nous établissons avec l'armateur. <br>C'est notre force et c'est ce qui nous distingue de nombreux autres opérateurs qui se présentent quotidiennement sur le marché. <br>Dans le secteur naval, nombreux sont ceux qui aujourd'hui arrivent, pensant installer l'automatisme, les fils, les vis et se sauver. En réalité, ce n'est pas comme ça que cela fonctionne. <br>L'installation en elle-même n'est pas importante, ce qui compte c'est tout ce qu'il y a avant et après. <br>Prenons les automatismes, par exemple. Nous travaillons avec Ditec. Nous les avons mis à l'épreuve, avec d'autres, mais nous avons décidé de rester avec eux, en raison de leur haute fiabilité.]]></description>

						<description><![CDATA[More power with lower emissions and less fuel<br><br>Volvo Penta is introducing the D13, a new inboard marine diesel for marine commercial applications. The D13 is available in 700 hp and 800 hp versions and delivers impressive performance with low fuel consumption and minimal exhaust emissions. It is suitable for fast patrol boats in high speed operations as well as for high-performance work boats requiring low life-cycle costs.<br><br>Massive low-end torque<br>One feature of Volvo Penta’s inboard diesels is their high torque from low rpm, a prerequisite for rapid and safe acceleration. The new D13 is equipped with Volvo Penta’s highly efficient twin-entry turbo with pulse charging – the power in each exhaust pulse provides the pulse pressure. The D13-800 features dual-stage turbo technology which helps produce a torque of over 2900 Nm even at 800 rpm. This gives superb acceleration with virtually no sign of smoke.<br><br>Another important feature is that the D13 retains a very high torque throughout its speed range. This makes it possible to maintain good operating speed even with a heavily loaded boat or in rough seas.<br><br>Low fuel consumption, minimum emissions<br>EMS 2, the engine control system developed by Volvo, regulates fuel injection and monitors engine conditions. The system controls the unit injectors, one per cylinder, which operate at a pressure of as much as 2000 bar and atomize the fuel for optimum combustion. The result of this efficient combustion is lower fuel consumption for the D13 than the previous model, at the same power output.<br><br>The D13 is also very low on noxious emissions and particulates. All versions are certified to the IMO NOx Tier 2, EU IWW, and US EPA Tier 2 requirements. They also meet the upcoming US EPA Tier 3 emission regulations – the world’s most stringent.<br><br>Quick shift and low speed<br>The D13 is available with quick-shift reverse gear that provides very fast but soft shifting with a minimum delay. The reverse gear also comes with a low-speed function as standard, which means that the speed when idling drops by 50%. Low-speed mode is available as an option for all reverse gears.<br><br>High quality<br>The D13-800 and D13-700 have the same robust basic architecture as the Volvo D9, D11, and D16 inline-6 diesel engine platform. The platform features a robust block design, wet liners, rear-end transmission, ladder frame and a single cylinder head with overhead camshaft operating 4 valves per cylinder and the injectors. This contributes to smooth running, high reliability and long-term durability.<br><br>New generation onboard electronics<br>EVC-D, a new generation of the proven Electronic Vessel Control, offers new and useful features. The new series of controls are ergonomically designed and allow for maneuvering with fingertip precision in any situation. Integrated pushbuttons give easy access to functions such as low-speed mode, cruise control and single-lever mode, which allows safe and easy handling. Engine synchronization is standard in twin installations. The helm station can be completed with Volvo Penta gauges and displays, including the new 7" color display. Trip computer function for accurate fuel management and minimized environmental impact is also available.<br><br>Ease of service and maintenance<br>The EVC system features a self-diagnostic function, which indicates at the helm if a failure should occur. 						<description><![CDATA[STURGEON BAY, WI (August 23, 2010) – Marine Travelift Inc. announced today that Newport Shipyard of Newport, Rhode Island, has acquired one of its 100 BFMII mobile boat hoists. The new machine joins another Marine Travelift hoist already on site.<br><br>Located downtown on Newport Harbor, Newport Shipyard is Newport's oldest — and only — working boat- and shipyard facility. Not only is the yard a major East Coast yachting hub, it also is host to one of the country’s most celebrated sailboat races: the Newport-Bermuda Race.<br><br>Eli Dana, Newport Shipyard’s manager and dockmaster, said the yard purchased the new 100 BFMII to replace an existing 70-ton machine.<br><br>“We got it to handle smaller and midrange boats — race boats, catamarans, power and sail cruising boats up to the 90- and 100-foot range,” he said. <br><br>The new 100-ton hoist was assembled at the end of April, and the shipyard completed its new set of piers at the end of June.<br><br>“Things are going very well,” Dana reported. “We had a very busy July. August is slower, because our customers are out using their boats, but we’ll have a very busy September.”<br><br>According to Chad Forman of Marine Travelift dealership Martin Walter Company Inc., the famous Rhode Island shipyard has been a Marine Travelift customer since the 1970s.<br><br>“They purchased the 70-ton machine in the early ‘80s,” he recalled, “and in recent years, they added their 300-ton machine.” <br><br>At the time, Forman said the yard was experimenting with a business mix comprising both commercial vessels and private yachts. He confirmed, however, that the core of the yard’s business remains pleasure boating — from family yachts to world-class racing sailboats.<br><br>“They’re doing a lot with long-keel racing sailboats,” Forman said, “so they put a new set of piers on the other side of the yard, next to the 300-ton, and purchased the 100 BFMII. The new sailboat top beam extension option was a really big deal; it saves a lot of labor.”<br><br>During sailboat lifting, the backstay or forestay can interfere with a mobile boat hoist’s top beam. With the innovative sailboat top beam extension, the top beam is moved forward, providing additional clearance while the boat is suspended in the slings. With this feature, a shipyard can lift a much larger number of sailboats without needing to adjust the vessels’ rigging.<br><br>“We’re pleased to see how the sailboat top beam extension is saving time and manpower at Newport Shipyard,” said Erich Pfeifer, Marine Travelift’s vice president of business development and marketing. “There’s no need to dismantle the forestay, which reduces stress on the mast and gives greater ground clearance to the keel during lifting, and that’s going to be very important to a yard whose typical loads involve a large number of elite racing sailboats.”<br><br>Pfeifer also observed that the sailboat top beam extension also is a major benefit when lifting power vessels with forward-mounted superstructures.<br><br>According to Forman, another major selling point for Newport Shipyard was the Marine Travelift’s patented all-wheel electronic steering. Essentially, this means that each wheel is able to steer, providing superior maneuverability — operators can maneuver in close quarters, around tight corners and on uneven grades, which means the yard can utilize every square inch of available space.<br><br>“With the machine’s all-wheel electronic steering, maneuvering is much easier for the shipyard,” he said. “They have a tight yard, which isn’t hard to imagine in downtown Newport.”<br><br>Five optional steering modes are available. In addition to front- and rear-wheel steering, there is coordinate steering, which permits the hoist to be maneuvered around a pivot point to either side. In this mode, the inside wheel will turn as much as 45 or 55 degrees. Then there’s crab mode, in which all wheels turn in the same direction and angle so the hoist can be steered obliquely or traverse sideways; and carousel mode, in which all wheels turn around an axis point at the machine’s center.<br><br>Forman said he’s observed a trend in the industry for yards to take delivery of new mobile boat hoists, intending to have them work alongside their predecessors.<br>“It’s definitely an increasing percentage,” he commented.<br><br>To Pfeifer, Marine Travelift’s vice president of business development and marketing, this is evidence of a larger worldwide trend.<br><br>“First of all, we make a machine that is known worldwide for holding its value, and for continuing to provide reliable, efficient, top-quality service for many years,” he said. “That’s a huge benefit for yards that plan to expand their facilities and capabilities; they can continue to use their older machines while investing in new ones to help grow the business.<br><br> “Plus, we offer machines that have an impressive range of options, each designed to maximize a Marine Travelift hoist’s overall flexibility, reliability and performance,” he continued. “It’s all about efficiency.
